Shopify Connector Seller Guide
Are you a seller of Wargame supplies with your own Shopify store? You can automatically sync your products and orders with your individual store and your Wargame Trader store to easily keep track of inventory. The Shopify Connection menu option appears under the Configuration menu in each seller’s panel. The process for syncing your Shopify store with Wargame Trader is as follows:
NOTE: Product syncing is only available for New in Box products at this time.
The rest of this guide contains significant technical setup, which we will handle for you as part of the onboarding process. If you're curious, you can follow along below to prepare for the onboarding meeting in advance.
To enable product synchronization, sellers must first create a custom app in their Shopify store.
Step 1: Create a Custom App
- Log in to your Shopify account and search for "App" in the search bar at the top of the page. Click "App development" in the list that appears.

- On the right of the page that comes up, click Build apps in Dev Dashboard:
-
In the top right of the page, click Create App
-
Enter the app name and click Create App.

Step 2: Configure Admin API Permissions
- After creating the custom app, you will be taken to a configuration screen.
- A Wargame Trader representative will give you two URLs. You can also find these URLs at the bottom of the seller configuration page here. The first URL will be in the format "http://seller.wargametrader.com/seller_app/cus_app_index.php?p=cus_app_marketplace_seller&sid={sid}&seller_id={seller_id}", and the second will be in the format "http://seller.wargametrader.com/seller_app/cus_app_index.php?p=cus_app_shopifyuser&sid={sid}&seller_id={seller_id}" Paste them into the App URL and Preferences URL blocks.
-
Uncheck the “Embed app in Shopify admin” option.
-
Paste the URLs separated by a comma, with the second URL first, into the Redirect URLs textbox.
- Grant the necessary permissions listed below.

Note: If you don't know your Shopify Store URL, follow the steps below to retrieve it:
- Log in to your Shopify admin dashboard.
- Navigate to Settings > Domains.
- The default .myshopify.com URL will be listed under Shopify-powered domains.
- If you have a custom domain, it will also be displayed, and the .myshopify.com URL will be listed under "Shopify-powered domains".

- Then click on the “save and install” button at the bottom. After clicking on the “save and install” button, you will be redirected to the seller shopify store to install the app. Click on Install.
Once saved, the seller can begin importing products.

Setting Price Rule
In the price rule menu, the seller can create a price rule to automatically modify the default price of the product on your Shopify store. To do so, the seller must enable the price rule status to configure the settings.
- Select "Seller Shopify Store Connector" from the dropdown
- Select the price rule, either to increase or decrease.
- Select the price change, either fixed or percentage.
- Enter the amount of how much the sellers want to increase or decrease the price.
- These settings will automatically be applied to any newly imported products. Already imported products will only updated when a change comes in that will trigger a sync from the Shopify store. If you need to updated existing products, you can bulk add a small price increase of one cent temporarily to trigger the one-time sync.
Mapping Product Data
Import Products from Seller’s Shopify Store
Sellers can import products using the Import Products button in the panel. Three methods are available:
1. Import by Date Range
2. Import by Product IDs (comma-separated)
3. Import by Product Handle
All imported products will appear in the Your Products section of the seller panel, accessible via Products -> Your Products in the header. Once the products are imported, they will not be immediately published. To publish the product in Wargame Trader and complete the syncing process, you must map your product to the matching global product defined by Wargame Trader.
Product Mapping Steps:
To map your product, you must complete the following steps. Note that if you've imported products from exports that we have provided to you, mapping will work by default and you can ignore most of this section. We are happy to handle importing your products into our system and mapping them on our end so you can focus on running your store.
1. Ensure your product's SKU and variant options match the SKU and variant options of the global product. SKUs match the manufacturer's SKU. A valid configuration is for Games Workshop products is defined below. For Heroscape products, only a Complete / Near Mint variant is needed, and for BattleTech products, only a New in Box (Complete) / Near Mint variant is needed.
-
Variant 1:
- Option Name: Set Completeness
-
Option Value: New in Box (Complete)
- Option Name: Condition
- Option Value: Near Mint
On each product's page in your store's Shopify Admin, the Variants section of that product should look something like this in order to map successfully:

In addition, the SKU of New in Box (Complete) / Near Mint product variant must match the SKU of the product as defined by the manufacturer:
- All Games Workshop product SKUs are in the format of XXXXXXXXXXX, XX-XXX, XXX-XX, or XX-XX, where each X is a numerical digit. For example, 99120102224, 103-55, 83-102, or 50-69.
- All Renegade Game Studios Heroscape product SKUs are in the format RGSXXXXX, where each X is a numerical digit. For example, RGS02700.
- All BattleTech product SKUs are in the format CATXXXXX where each X is a numerical digit. For example, CAT35779.
- All Halo: Flashpoint product SKUs are in the format mg-XXXXX, where each X is either a numerical digit or a lowercase letter. For example, mg-hau105.
- All Star Wars Legion product SKUs are in the format amg-XXXXXX, where each X is either a numerical digit or a lowercase letter. For example, amg-swq135.
Also, the Product Type for each listing must match one of the following: Miniatures, Terrain, Sealed Product, Combined Terrain And Miniatures, or Paints. If you encounter an error when importing products that references one of these product types, please either edit the Product Type Mappings here or contact support@wargametrader.com and we will be happy to assist
2. Once you are certain your variant and SKU configuration is correct, go to Your Products page (Products -> Your Products) in the header:

3. Then click the three dots to the right of each product you want to import, then click Map to Normal Product

4. In the popup that appears, search for the name of your product to select the matching global product, click Map.
5. If you see a purple Proceed button appear after clicking the Map button, skip to Step 9. However, if you encounter the error Mapping is not possible for this normal product after clicking the Map button, then the SKU and Variant Options for your product in your Shopify store do not match the product you have selected to map. You will need to either select a different, correct product to map to, or update the product on your Shopify store to match the correct configuration before proceeding.
6. Once you've updated the product on your Shopify store, go back to your My Products page. You will see a blue banner like this at the top of the page:
7. Click the link that says View the products that are not updated yet. In the top right of the page the link took you too, there will be a purple button that says Update All Products:

8. Click the button, then go back to the Your Products page and repeat Steps 2-7 until clicking the Map button in Step 4 does not result in an error and you see the purple Proceed button below.
Note: Not all products in our system have SKUs yet, but we can add them into our system for all New in Box products if requested. If you are certain your configuration is correct and you run into issues with the product mapping, please contact support@wargametrader.com and we will be happy to assist you.

9. Click the purple Proceed button. Your product will then be published, and order information will automatically sync from there.
Now that mapping is complete, orders created on Wargame Trader for mapped products will sync with the seller's Shopify store automatically
- Orders are created in both Wargame Trader and the seller’s individual Shopify stores.
- Inventory updates automatically.
- Orders created in Wargame Trader will have a ea8f9e-50-marketplace tag associated with the order.
- Order shipping, billing, and tax information will be synced to the seller's Shopify store as well.
- Sellers don’t need to manually update inventory after each order.
- Inventory updates on the seller’s Wargame Trader store automatically.
