The Shadow Lord was once the king of a small and insignificant kingdom. When Sauron offered him one of the Nine Rings, the promise of its power proved irresistible. Now, his physical being all but gone, and his will enslaved to Sauron, the Shadow Lord wears his dark pride like a cloak, blotting the sun from the sky and dimming the sight of his foes.
This blister contains two finley-detailed metal miniatures: one mounted Shadow Lord and one Shadow Lord on foot. These are supplied with 40mm round and 25mm round bases respectively.
The Shadow lord is a bastion of darkness against enemy missile fire. If you're fed-up with your Evil Warriors being made into pincushions by enemy bowfire as then the Shadow Lord is just what you need. He alone posses the Pall of Darkness ability (forces enemy warriors shooting at targets within 6" of him to roll 6's to hit) and it should earn him a place in any Evil army. On foot he can march beside your Warriors and allow them to advance unmolested by enemy bowfire. Mounted, he can ride at the head of a cavalry charge and prevent any Morgul Knights being dismounted before they get into combat. His Harbinger of Evil rule coupled with the Morgul Knights' Terror will ensure that your opponent struggles to charge your knights. Don't underestimate how useful this is - cavalry lose a lot of their benefit if they don't get the charge.
Including the Shadow Lord in an army of Corsairs of Umbar or Harad, who both suffer from low Defence values; will make sitting back and out-shooting your opponent a viable tactic. The Corsairs have a great Shoot value and the Haradrim Archers have poisoned arrows, but would both lose a protracted shooting match against well armoured Elves or warriors of Minas Tirith. The Shadow Lord swings the balance back massively in their favour.
